When talking Compacts or Subcompacts, what point and shoot should I use for concerts? I need something around cell phone size so that I can consistently sneak it in to concerts.
I also need good zoom (for when I don't get great seats). It must also be -great- at taking shots in difficult and variable lighting - it's always very dark, with flashing lights of random colors on the people on the stage. Video is a plus.
This is the one I'm currently considering:

It's nice because it does HD photos and video.
My cell phone is the best I've done so far for photos or videos, so I don't know what camera features would be most important at a venue in the Los Angeles concert scene.
I see concerts at places as small as Whiskey or Canyon Club, small clubs like El Rey and House of Blues, mid-sized places like Greek or Hollywood Bowl, and large venues like the Coliseum and Dodger Stadium. How about the cheapest one available. That way it won't hurt so much when they take it away. Also get a nice big padded fanny pack for when they throw you out on your bottom. |
