Looking for a digital camera...?

I'm looking for a digital camera with the following qualities:
- Takes good pictures in the dark
- Low cost ($175 and below, please)
- Good quality
- Compact digital
- Easy to use

Please help!

I'd second ground_control_to_reality_check's suggestion of a Canon, but go one step further. Either of the newer models, A530 or A540 will also easily come in at or under your budget. They're both currently available on Amazon for $135 and $175 respectively.

The 530 is very similar to the 430 previously recommended, and is also a good deal cheaper than the 540. I think the biggest advantage on the 540 would be the larger lcd display at back - 2.5" versus 1.8".

The megapixel difference between the three is 4MP (430), 5MP (530), 6MP (540) but honestly there won't be significant difference between the three.

Dpreview.com has a useful side-by-side comparison chart [0] and is generally a good resource to research digital cameras.

Steve's Digicams has a very detailed review too, including a photo showing the camera size compared to a CD disc [1] - it's about halfway down the page.

I usually buy my camera equipment online. Amazon is a good, reliable place. Also places like B&H Photo & Video or Adorama. There are lots of scam stores out there though. Some of them even advertise at the back of major photography magazines. So outside of those three, I'd exercise caution and do research online. Check sites like reseller-ratings.com and epinions.com

Beat Buy or maybe just maybe raidoshack

You will want a Kodak I got mine on Ebay. Mine is remanufactured though, but still comes with the Kodak warranty. Lightweigt easy to use I paid $100 for mine awesome photo quality. different flash options. By the way I Love mine and am so happy I got it!
