Do Photographers still shoot film or use digital cameras when shooting sporting events, Register, LA Times?

For spot news, digital has the edge. In the old days we used to shoot a roll, give it to our assistant to process and dry using their special alchemy. Then they printed it and put it on a panafax to the magazine or newspaper to meet their deadlines.

Now I use a WiFi link and my assistant picks images off my camera and sends them to my publisher via a FTP link. Much has changed.

I still shoot a roll or two just for grinns, but in the sports and breaking news, digital rules

They shoot both.. however, most now are digital especially due to the cost/upload speed because things going on need to get into the paper/news FAST!

for the crop factor alone most sporties use DSLR and a 600-800mm lens

for press and so forth its easier and quicker to shot the image/s, put the image/s on the laptop, send the image to the "editors" via cell phone and its done - on the scene/spot so to speak, im old and i know that, i also know for things like press they need speed and theres not time to "fix" images in photoshop like alot of younguns think

Older persons didn't know about the Digital camera and Adobe Photoshop software,so they used back the conventional cameras,young persons know all the functions of Digital and softwares(Computer),so that we are smarter than the older persons in this world.
