I want to buy still digital camera within 10 k which one is the best? factors to consider before buying.?

The camera will have clear picture in bad light. The optical zoom is used for what? Is still digital camera is maintainence free, pls suggest me a website to get all the info of digital still camera.

The optical zoom is when the lens changes focal lengths to increase (or decrease) the magnification. Digital zoom is done internally in the camera and should never be used unless you wouldn't get the picture another other way. It will be extremely grainy ("noise" in digital terms)

Are you asked for a camera in the $1,000 dollar range or 10,000? Repost it with the real dollar range and you will get some good answers.

$1,000 and I would suggest the new Nikon D80. Sells for about $800-900. But, then you would need to buy the lens that best suits your needs.
