What is the best resolution to use with my digital camera? I麓m not willing to print large formats?

Just want to print some of the best pictures of my vacations but nothing bigger than an A4 paper

Even though you don't want to make big prints, your best resolution is probably still whatever the highest resolution of your camera is. If you have a fine, high, JPG setting, than this would be the way to go. The reason for this would be the fact that you may want to crop your photos. Maybe your subject was a bit far or you want to eliminate some distracting element, so shooting in the highest available resolution would give you the most pixels to work with. There is a trade off, of course, you'll get less pictures on a memory card, but memory is pretty cheap and with 5 MP camera, you will still get over 100 photos on a 1 GIG card which can be had for about $60 if you look around.

5 Megapixels would be sufficient enough to be printed on A4 sheet. If u don`t care about printing, then I would recommend 2 or 3 Megapixels
