i want to take a good quality photograph of crystal bead, actual size approx. 4mm smallest. and what type of digital camera is good? and the photos are suitable for advertising purpose?
have some suggestion? please let me know What you need is a super macro mode (if you want a close-up of the crystal). Most of the cameras in the range of $400-$600 will have this mode, with the distance from the subject to the lens being 2 inches.
You need an external flash or an external soft light. Can't use in-built camera flash as it will burn the picture too much. For external flash, you will need to have a camera with which you can use some external flash a little far away from the camera. Or use some kind of a light filter (professional portrait photographers use) to make it soft.
There are other methods to soften the light. Good online photography tutorials talk about it. I don't have a link off hand.
Also, you will need a good cloth for background. Again, this you can find out from photogrpahy tutorials. To do this properly and make them look good enough for advertising. You will need to get you a good DSLR at least 10mp since this will be for print. Nikon and Canon are good brands. They both make a Macro lens that is used for this type of application. Nikon also makes a Flash setup made specifically for doing Macro shots. Here is the setup I use for Macro shots.
Nikon D200
Sigma DX 50mm w/ Macro Lens
Nikon R1C1 Wireless Close up Speedlight system - using this eliminates the need for big softboxes or large lights.
I also use a photo tent or cube, these are basically a white box you put your item into and it shows up as nothing but a white background so the focus is on your product not the background you can also use a light table as well. Hope this helps.. |
