Can I use a digital camcorder/camera as a web camera?

Can anyone recommend all-in-one camcorders that can take stills but also be used as a web cam?

I was using my sony DCR HC46 video camera as a web cam by using the docking station and a usb cable when I was running windows XP, but it will not work that way at all with Vista and sony has not made any attemps to fix it.

All they told me was to buy an iLink cable and I am not even sure that will hook up to my laptop.

my microsoft Lifecam VX 3000 web cam works far better as a web cam though.
