What brand and type of point-shoot digital camera should I buy?

I want to buy a quality digital camera within my budget (I only use disposible cameras these days), should I aim to buy a particular brand or type of camera? What features are necessary? I am shooting to spend less than $150.

get anything BUT a nikon coolpix

i would go with Pentax, Olympus,or Konica Minolta. Also thses might help you:

when you really want to buy a cam, invest some more money and buy a 5-6 Megapixel camera with at least 3x zoom and 2.5 LCD. I think Sony is the best.

check out sites like deals2buy.com or amazon.com. you generally can't go wrong with a canon camera - a few of their models are available for under $150.
