What is the best digital camera for a beginner to use?

im a beginner at camera using but not sure what camera to start with. does anyone have any ideas?

My cannon a600 is a good camera because it's cheap yet has a lot of manual settings.
Then take a class, it really helps speed you along.
GL.

i have a kodak easy share. they cost around $100 at walmart, and are easy to learn how to use, but have lots of great features. great for beginners!!

They're NOT all the same. The ones that give more pixels, like 3 mega-pixels (for instance), will give you a better resolution. Of course, the higher resolution, the higher price (duh). You probably won't have much trouble with taking the pictures. What will take time for you to get used to is the editing software. I use Paint Shop Pro, but a lot of folks like Photoshop.
Buy what you can afford, but get used to some editing software.

There is a really good website where you can go to get reviews on digital cameras:

There is one camera that I really recommend for a beginner, I don't know if you can find it in stores since the camera is around 2 years old but you would be able to find it on e-bay, I would highly recommend the Canon PowerShot A95, also you find reviews on it at this website:
http://www.epinions.com/pr-Canon_PowerSh...

Also on e-bay you might be able to find the camera for at least $200.

A good camera to start for a beginners is the Canon A630 or A640. It will cost about $250 but the imagine quality you will love.

Stay away from Kodaks. I bought two from them and they cost me $300 in total when I could have bought the Canon A630 for $250 which has outstanding imagine quality. Kodaks are like Fords to Hondas. Kodak being the Fords and Hondas being Canon, which is better quality? Honda.

To the person below me, you obviously have never used a different camera before. Kodaks make the WORST cameras in the digital industry overall. Their picture quality lags behind its competiors.

I agree on the Kodak Easyshare cameras. I have the Kodak Easyshare C633 and I, too, got mine from Wal-Mart. I think they're the best you can get, easy to use and have WONDERFUL picture quality!!! You don't get that with just ANY camera!
