Anyone with a digital camera that uses compactflash memory cards? |
i have a digital rebel xt and i was fumbling to put a memory card in in the dark and i accidentally bent one of the 50 pins that are on the inside of the memory slot. everything appears to be working fine. i can store picutres on the memory card just fine and everything. is it bad that it got bent? will it cause any problems? maybe i am just nervous because i just got it and it is my baby. http://www.interfacebus.com/CompactFlash... Man you must have forced something to bend a pin. Get it into Canon ASAP. This reprieve may only last a short time. It would be a real pain if your camera was to fail in the middle of something important Both fhotoace and I completely agree. Take it in ASAP. I'm not sure what that particular pin does, but you could force the CF card in and actually break that pin off, or damage your card. By the way, that's why I always keep some small light in my gadget bag. Hope you can get it fixed inexpensively. as andy said the corner ones are earth, goto the link hes given, As with Antoni, I agree with Andy T 100%. Since it's an XT, did you buy used? I know new ones can still be gotten but in either case, Canon service may refuse to cover the repair under warranty... if the repair estimate is too high for your liking, then I'd leave the bent contact as is and not sweat over it... just be more careful next time :) if it works |
