Do digital camera cases that uses magnets to close the case affect the camera - monitor and/or card?

The Init brand small leather digital camera case (Model: IT-PBLS104) uses magnets to close the case. Will these magnets adversely affect the camera?

I would think it very possibly could. I would get a new case.

It shouldn't bother the camera, but it's bad news for memory cards, which will be scrambled if they get too close to the magnet. How close will depend on the strength of the magnet.

It seems kind of silly that someone designed a case for digital cameras with a magnet.

Nope, unless you scratch the camera with it. There are no magnetic materials in a digi-cam (except tiny motors, & they won't be affected).
