I lose my shopping list all the time, so it's handy to take a photo of it. Same goes for maps/directions. Any other ideas out there? I went shopping for some curtain rods and I wasn't sure I was getting the right ones. I bought one style and photographed 2 others with my pocket-sized Nikon 4600. This way, I could show my wife what the store had when I got home instead of trying to describe them. If she preferred one style over the ones I bought, I could just take the first ones back and trade them for the ones she liked better.
This won't help too many, but take a look at my "picture" to the left of this answer. I am a dentist and I photograph x-rays for submission to insurance companies and to send to other dentists when I refer a patient for some kind of care. For insurance, all they care about is some form of proof that the teeth are actually there, so I can do this on plain paper and we're done.
For oral surgeons, for instance, I use the D70s or D200 and make a 1:1 print of the whole film. I can actually enhance the film to show important landmarks better on the print than they show on the x-ray. I can also make about a 5x7 print of a SINGLE TOOTH and associated structures if it would be helpful. I asked the surgeons if this is okay instead of making a film copy of the x-rays and they told me that they'd rather work off of one of my enhanced prints than any x-ray they ever saw.
I can do this almost for free and making a duplicate film costs a few dollars by the time you consider the cost of the film and the staff salary while they do it.
Of course, I use it for pictures of teeth for the dental lab when I am trying to communicate something where a picture would be worth a thousand words.
I have also taken pictures of various "what-cha-ma-callits" to show to the guy in the hardware store - sometimes right from the LCD - so he could help me buy the right item to finish whatever job I was in the middle of.
I document some "how to" stuff around the house so I'll remember how to do [whatever] the next time around. One example is where to find the little clips under the washer or dryer covers so I don't have to hunt around for them if something needs fixing.
I've used the LCD and zoom to get a closer look at something when my aging eyes just won't focus close enough. Take pictures of Magazines at the stand and read when you get home for free take pictures of hot chicks at bus stops while at the red light waiting for it to turn green. I take pix of crime scenes and send them in right-a-way! you could eat it sometime
tell me if it tastes good. take pictures Take pictures of your eye. Copying pictures onto my computer, when my scanner doesn't work. Take photos in the macro (close up) mode. Especially photo anything natural. It's a different world down there. Copy the list on your computer and take a pic of it.
Practice , practice, practice and take pics of a napkin with small weird glyphs
If the pic is upside down, you can use your digital camera to put it in the right way round.
Use the leaflet to understand better in an other language if you can't understand your own.
Take pics of weirdos on streets but make sure they are plenty of signs around to remember where you are. The surrounding people cracking themselves up will remind you what part of the city you are especially if they do not drive Hondas !
But be careful to point and hold in the right way because one can easily get lost between west,south, east and north.
Definitely needing help from a tekkie....... I used to work for Philips and one the most interesting things that we were able to do with webcameras as well as digital cameras for that matter was to take a photo of text and OCR it. What does that mean? Well it means that the photo I took of say for example a newspaper, would be saved as a text file and not as an image file. From there the text could be edited in Word or utilized any myriad of ways. However, our idea behind this is that a person travelling abroad who has no understanding of the native language could take a photo of some unknown text, say at a train station, then the text file could be uploaded to a translation website whereas the person would receive the English translation for the file. The technology is totally available right now, it is just that there wasnt enough interest to go forward with the idea. Use it to hit some one. I guess the bigger the better. picasa is a Google's photo software. It's what should've come with your camera.
It can Edit , organise and Share you picture and small video flips.
It's very easy to use and is free, just like Google
