Digital camera card quality? |
While using my digital camera on holiday i noticed the card was nearly full, can i change the quality on card while the pictures are still on card without looseing then.? I think the questioner is asking whether it's possible to reduce the size of the files *already written on the card*, in order to make more room. only if your camera has a resizer on it Some higher level cameras have the option of in-camera processing to decrease the size of the photo. I'd suggest not doing this, but instead to actually save the photos onto another drive, an erasing it. You do know you can re-use the card over and over, right? Save the photos to your computer. Either that, or get suckered into buying another card. I know we can not only change the MP mid through, the same goes for the ISO/ASA. Sure. The quality is set PER IMAGE and it is not a function of the card, which is no more than a data storage device. It saves what you tell it to save, similar to a hard drive. You can save large files (high quality images) and small files (low quality images) on the same card with no trouble at all. If you can do this (none of my cameras will) you should ask yourself if it is a good idea. How far would you go compromising quality to get more storage? You could end up with hundreds of disappointingly poor pictures. Better to delete the worst of the pictures you have to free up space, and best of all buy spare cards as they are not expensive. yes but only on new photos all prevoius ones will be whatever size you took them at. my fz8 can reduce from 7mp to 0.3mp same card |
