How many megapixels do cameras used for high resolution films have?

in films with very high quality images, like the lord of the rings

LOR was shot on 35mm film. Scanned with a 4k film scanner CG animation inserted and recorded back on film with a 4k laser film recorder. (4k= about 12mp)

The Sony HDW-F900/3 has a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. That's 2,073,600 or 2 megapixels. Not a lot for a still camera but it is for a movie camera.

If you have any multi megapixel still camera that allows you to make video clips, you will find the video resolution is much less than for the still.

Generally, they are not of a large amount of megapixels as you might imagine. There is more editing and enhancing involved than the actual shooting of the movie, which gives you the great picture as the final product.

Believe it or not, the standard digital movie theater is only two megapixels, same as HDTV. They're trying to move to a higher standard that's eight megapixels.

i could be wrong, but i don't think films are measure in megapixels...i think it's a matter of mm or exposure.

Probably like 20 or someting.
