Can someone explain why an infra-red tv camera can be used to observe the movement of animals at night? Thanks

Sulfide or selenide phosphors can be excited to luminescence by incident infrared radiation (that's heat radiation) These phosphors are the coating used on the camera sensor.

IR is heat energy, so anything that gives off heat can be seen at night - animals, people, engines, light bulbs...
