Is it safe to use Dust Off (canned air) to remove dust in a camera sensor?

Is it safe to use Dust Off (canned air) to remove dust in a camera sensor?

NO

1) too high of pressure, chance of blowing more crap onto your sensor
2) moisture
3) condensation from the canned air cooling your sensor
4) turn the can sideways and you will get liguid out of it. Not good for your sensor

There are ways to clean your sensor, but taking it to a good camera shop (not WalMart) and having them clean it is safest.

Canned air? No as has been explained above. You could likely cause more problems than spots on your sensor. As for the Rocket Blower? I have one and just yesterday attempted to blow the tiny particles off of the sensor of my camera. It did not work, probably because those particles are attached to the sensor... something like a magnet. I just wanted to try to clean the sensor instead taking it in for a professional to clean it. As it turns out, I had to take it in anyway. He used a q-tip and solution to wipe it and then a commercial air blower to dry it.

With canned gases, you have to watch out for oil and other impurities and condensaton/freezing from the abrupt decompression of the gas. A safer approach is to use a good bulb blower like the Giottos Rocket blower, taking care of course not to touch the imager.

No.

Use a hand powered blower to gently persuade spots off the sensor.

For more stubborn spots there are special cleaning solutions and applicators.
