How do I use firewire to take footage off my mini dv video camera? |
I bought a mini dv video camera, and it has both a USB and firewire jack on it. When I connect USB, I can only take off the still pictures I took on the camera, and was told I need a IE 1394 (firewire) cable. So i went out and bought one, and when I hook it up to my camera and laptop.....nothing happens. What do I need to do? What setting should the camera be on? What am I doing wrong?? Thanks The camcorder should be switched to "Play", but you don't always get a pop-up telling you it's been connected. If Windows Movie Maker can't see the camcorder, try this:- Use windows movie maker to CAPTURE the footage (no drag and dropping Mini DV videos). I've heard it isn't hard.
