How can I make/use a make-shift camera to film/image my celestial sky?

Last night I experimented using my logitech quickcam, and well, the objects weren't bright enough.

I was surprised considering I've seen videos and pictures of people who use the same type of set-up and get images or videos.

Any suggestions?

Will certain eyepieces, for example a 6 or 7mm eyepiece be ideal for brightness in order to capture an image of a planet?

you can do good planetary imaging with a web camera (i use a quickcam pro 4000), but deep sky work requires either a modified camera, or a dedicated astronomical ccd camera. you don't use eyepieces for this sort of imaging.

all the usual references. you can take amazing pictures with a film slr on a barn door tracker.

The inexpensive webcams can be used to image brighter objects, specifically the moon and the brighter planets. I use "Star Shoot Solar System color imager". It plugs into the focuser (under $200). A "normal" web cam can be used, you would need to modify it slightly. You will not want the plastic lens on it, and a way to attach it to your focuser tube. Also some free software is out there to help you process images, link below for registax, there are others too. I do not even have a motor drive, and still get OK planetary images. For imaging anything fainter you will want a higher dollar "camera" and a telescope with a good motor driven mount.
