What is a good camera to use for close up shots like shooting gems or details?

my camera always ends up with a blurry picture

what does microscopeeeee mean .. i havent heard of anything like that before

Any good SLR or DSLR will be able to handle this task, but you'll need a bit of extra equipment. With a macro lens and a tripod, you'll be able to take the detail shots you want 鈥?once you learn to control the image at that level.

Are the blurry images from being out of focus or from camera movement?

About 90 % of the macro work I do (1:1 to 1:2 subject to image ratio) is done using a tripod and an adjustable rail so I can focus using the camera once I have my image ratio correctly established.

Since gems are a three dimensional object and to pull enough focus, you will have to be working at small f/stops, a SLR or DSLR camera with a true macro lens is pretty much mandatory if you wish to capture the stone in its best light ... so to speak.
