Question about who to tip at a wedding?

For my wedding Im hiring an officiant who is charging $300.00 for small ceremony. Do i have to tip her too?, and will she leave after the ceremony or is she supposed to stay at the reception? Also, im hiring a photographer should i tip him also?how much? My reception site does not offer discount food for photographers should i pay for his meal?and where would he eat it? I know these questions sound stupid but i really dont know what is usually done in this situations. Thanks.

Unfortually the officant will probably come to the reception and you will have to tip here. We tipped about $50, but they would be appreciate of anything so don't worry too much about it. Our ceremony was small and even though I am a good tipper, we could only shell out so much, between $50- $100 for tips. It is tradition to pay for the photographers meal but if you can not afford it just inform them beforehand and explain your situation so they are not planning on munching down. But whatever you decide is your choice and sometimes not by choice but limitations (the wallet)!! Here is a site that might help you out. Hopefully it all comes together. You shouldn't have to tip them at all. You're hiring them for their services, so why give them a tip? As far as your officiant, I'm sure that after the ceremonies, she'll leave, but it may be polite to ask her to stay for the reception is she so chooses. Don't worry about your questions, they're not stupid to me. I wish you the best of luck for you wedding and your upcoming marriage. Hope both of them go very smooth. Have a great day.

You should either tip the officiant or invite her to the reception. If you do not know her very well, I would just tip her and send her on her way. I would not tip the photographer but yes you should invite him to eat at the reception. He would sit at a table and eat just like everyone else. And of course you would pay for it, you wouldn't ask any of your other guests to pay for their meal. You should only have to tip the DJ and the limo driver.

If it's still questionable, you can always ask. We flat out asked our photographer if he was going to eat and if he had any assistants that would eat as well. Same thing with the officiant and DJ.
My wedding! :)
If you feel your officiant has done an exceptional job then it is nice to acknowledge it with a gratuity. And again, unless your relationship is r-e-a-l-l-y good, as in a friendship has occurred, you donot invite her to the reception.....unless you want to. It is always a nice gesture.
You always invite the minister & his/her spouse if you are a member of their church.

As far as your photographer, he will be working so he shouldn't have time to sit down & eat, if he's doing his job. But have someone pack him a sandwich & a juice box so he doesn't pass out from starvation. :) It WILL be appreciated.
