What do you find reasonable for wedding photos from newish people? |
How much would people pay for two photographers that have 10 or less photos in their portfolios? Would people enjoy having digital photos, many options a la carte style, and someone cam-cord their wedding through out the day? What if you were on a budget or your photographer bailed, would you hire two such novices? I would love some feedback on such a idea. My friend posted something similar, but i got a lot of spelling comments instead of cold hard ideas. I did get a few however and wish for more. You need to build your portfolio. I'm not even a Professional photographer but I have several thousand pix on my hard drive backed up by CDs. It doesn't have necessarily to be of weddings. Offer complete packages with an "out the door" price up front. Charging through the nose for prints always grinds me. Also add-on fees. Perhaps include engagement pix in your package. I like both film and digital. Be professional. Show up on time. Two photographers is great! One can set up and do details while the other shoots. Bring twice as much film, memory, and batteries as you think you'll need. Ask the Bride and Groom specifically who they want pictures taken of. Grandma might not be around at the next wedding. Personally I'm big on candids. Personally I like pictures taken BEFORE the wedding. Some might say it's bad luck, but all the people I've seen do it are still married. It's done and out of the way and people are ready to party. Photography is a rough gig. Best wishes to you! You're going to have to learn the ropes and pay your dues. Source(s): Experience. CUTE STYLE-LES FUN AND SO GOOD PAR TY MI XX MUSIC LIKE DANCE MY PAIN AWAY GIGIREGGOE@YAHOO.COM GOOD JOB You need to add more photos to your portfolios. Try offering to do a few weddings for free, no obligation, unless they like what you do, and then they buy. Pros require a 1/2 deposit, usually, and you get what you get, period. Since your portfolios are so small you need another "hook" until you have built them up and this could do it. If what you want to showcase is your versatility and originality, you can take photos of friends and family showcasing your talent for this and add them to your portfolios as well. This will help people considering you to get a feel for your photographic style. Camcorders are so inexpensive these days that almost everyone knows someone who can video special moments throughout the big day and I rather think most people would not want the intrusive feel of a professional following their moves all day. If your portfolios showed significant talent and good photographic technique and your prices reflected your inexperience I probably would take a chance on hiring two such people. I would not, however, do so based on 10 or less pictures and I certainly would not pay "going rate" for your services. I suggest visiting wedding directory such as http://www.weddinglenox.com Unlike most yellow pages, they have price comparison for the vendors (DJ,videographer, florist, and photographer) you can choose. You can also try their matching system http://www.weddinglenox.com/f-membersign... that will match you up with local vendors. I tried it and have good result as I only recieved responses from vendors according to my request. One problem I had with my wedding is that it is hard to locate vendors in most website as most likely they group by states and there are too many of them that's too far from me and I have to look at each site to figure out. The sites I provide above have a easy to use layout to show you pictures, pricing and location in one page plus, you can send out your inquiry for matching vendor to contact you. That save me lots of time to locate the best vendors with the right price. |
