WEDDING Reception ACTIVITIES?

Hello!

I am getting married in September and need ideas about wedding games and activities to do at the reception. We will not be having dancing because of the facility, but we will have music.

Our plan is to allow guests to arrive, find their seats, and begin the games/activities that can hopefully last about 2 hours. After that, we will eat while music plays in the background and guests converse.

Later, we will go around each table because the photographer takes a picture of the bride and groom at each table. Then will come the cake, maybe some more activities and the bouquet toss.

We want to do it this way because most people will just come, eat and then leave. By having the food and cake at the end, it should last a while.

Please, let me know of any games and activities that you know of that are fun and don't involve dancing. Anything fun, lively and entertaining will be ok even if it's not wedding related.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions!!! ;-p

You could have trivia games at the tables.. . You and your fiance come up with questions such as when did you meet, how did you meet, what is their favorite activity (recreational now, not you know), and then go into some questions about each of you.. what did you want to be when you were 9 and wanting a job, a vet, a doctor, a ballerina, an astronaut? And of course some questions about him mixed in so as not to be biased.

Or what about a Bingo game? You coule come up with certain things, dates on which you started dating, the date on which you got engaged, the date on which you were married. How many siblings you each have. which town you live in, what the name of your pet is, etc. Should be a good time.

I like being able to out-trivia someone so maybe you don't let those answers be posted, so those who know, REALLY know and then they win.

??"? hope it helps. or at least hope it gives you some ideas.

Best of luck to you and your Mr.
Karaoke - Doesn't take much room and fits in with the music.
I too am gathering ideas for a wedding, but I have to be honest, although I see your POV about not wanting people to just show up and eat your food and leave on your special day, 2 hours of games before refreshments does not sound like a good idea. Maybe 30-45 minutes of games that you would like for everyone to participate in, then some refreshments. Then maybe 30-45 minutes of more games for those who wish to play. Many guests may not be into really involved games or particularly physical games.
By all means this is your big day and you should do what will make you happiest. I guess you and your fiance will know your guest list better than anyone and should plan game time to accommodate those who are attending,
That said- making up a game for your family and friends to meet and get to know his family and friends could be a great way for your two lives to 'come together' and a great way to help your guests break the ice with oneanother and meet new people.
Most people enjoy dancing or sitting and talking to people they haven't seen for awhile. Weddings are like a family reunion for 2 families. Don't overwhelm them with games. You might consider having some kind of unique bingo type game or trivia quizes with prizes.
Do a slide presentation. Show pictures of you and the groom from birth all the way up and as the pictures are showing they can put music to the pictures and show some up to date pictures of the two of you and an interview of you and the groom talking about different stuff like how and where y'all met your first date or first kiss etc...
play the newlywed game with couples that have been together for a long time. It will be fun and will pass the time away. But, have a few appitizers first. People tend to get cranky without food. Good luck and have fun!!
congratulations,i hope your day goes well.but to be honest i just think that sounds weird.games?
