How long do you need to plan a wedding?

Is 10 months enough time for a medium-sized wedding? How much advance notice do you need to give the photographer, dj, place of reception, etc.?

usually they say a year, but it can be done in less time. i had 9 months. you usually don't have to worry about everything like the reception and ect. until a few months b4.
10 months is fine. i did mine in a year. vendors need 30-60 days notice. the closer you get the more they will charge. book your vendors as soon as possible. then leave the little things to the end. you don't want to be stressing over a photographer or food a month before. make a list of songs you like and give that to the DJ. you can book him 2-3 months before hand, just make sure he has all the music you asked for and he know exactly when you want it played. lists are you friend. good luck
It depends if you can find an open date for the recption hall you want. As soon as you get that taken care of you can plan a wedding in a week.
I think 10 months might be enough time...but I would start calling the reception halls and get that taken care of. I would also try to book the photographer, the DJ, and the church. Try to get the main things for that day booked now...because things are going to be booked well in advance.

I wish you the best of luck in your future with your honey.
10 months isn't unrealistic to plan a wedding. However, I come from New Jersey and from my personal experience, everything in New Jersey is booked a year in advance if not further out so I had a 2 year engagement.. Photographer, DJ, Videographer I booked a year in advance from my wedding.. my reception hall was booked about a year and a half in advance.. It also depends what day you would like to get married on.. friday? saturday? or a sunday? saturday weddings are very popular and book fast.. friday nights or sunday during the day may be a little easier.. good luck planning!
Yes, 10 months is long enough, but go ahead and give your notice to the place of reception and ceremony, and if you know the others that you will use for the DJ, photographer, caterer, etc. then go ahead and give notice, but make a note to call every couple of month to "Check In" so there are no surprises.
Personal Experience, mine was planned in 6 weeks, you have plenty of time, good luck. -chrissy-
