How much would you pay a photographer for a 10-12 hour wedding day? |
i amd starting a photography business, and I am just curious... I myself paid $2000, 5 years ago. I got one leather bound album, all my proofs and 6- 5x7's for the wedding party. To me, this guy really over charged me, he was only around for about 4-5 hours total. That doesn't sound like much at all...NY weddings are expensive though! I would say at least $5000 (10-12 hours is a LONG time!) I figure about $400 an hour. So it could cost $4,000-$5,000. But what does your fee include? How many prints do you give them? What sizes? How much time are you going to spend touching up the photos? Do you charge them for extra prints afterwards? Since you are just starting out, $5,000 seems reasonable. I'm paying about $2K for all day coverage, but it doen't include any albums or pictures. It does include the negatives, however, after 6 months. Or, I could buy them immediately for $250. I have been doing a lot of research and you got a great deal. Vendors hear wedding and prices sky rocket. What I have been noticing is that the avg for what you described is about 3000-4000 in new england 10-12 hours is a long time! Here in Dallas $2000 for 4 hours is reasonable. I myself got my wedding services for $1500, it includes 6 hours wedding day, engagement sitting (with prints) and bridal sitting (with prints). For the wedding, we get a photo album with 20 8x10's and two albums with 20-5x7's plus 200 4x6's. This is a cheap compared to what others charge in Dallas. I mostly see starting prices at $2000 and up from there! We're paying $2000 for a 10 hr day. That includes the day of shooting, proofs album, and a couple of cds with all images, and she signs the release, so we own the images and can get our own prints. We looked at several photographers, and this was on the lower end, but most photographers had some prints/albums included. The most expensive we found was $8000 just for the shooting. That was a little outrageous. Depends on what area you are in. For my photographer i paid $4,000 and he was there with one other photographer for 11 hours. I got a leather bound album, 1,000 proofs (he picked the best ones out of the 1,5000 taken) in an album, 2 cds with all the proofs, 2 5x7 for the parents. This was for the Philadelphia area |
