How much should I spend on a wedding photographer including album? |
How much should I spend on a wedding photographer including album? It really depends on the photographer and what kind of packages that they put together for you. And the quality of their pictures. i would interview several and ask to see a portfolio from them to get an idea of their quality of work. You want a wonderful photographer, because pictures will be your main source of memory of your special day. mine is about $1000... and i haven't found a professional for much cheaper... It totally depends on the photographer, but most will charge between $850 and $1000. I would look around and get price quotes on at least 3 different photographers. Hopefully, you can get some recommendations from those who have used good photographers in the past. A word of advice, everyone tries to save money somewhere when it comes to wedding spending otherwise it can get out of hand. However, you should never compromise your photographer spending. That's because you will have the pictures forever. I'd get what you really want in terms of quality and package and pay within reason. We paid $2,600 for our customized album and two 30 x 24 photos. This price also included all negatives and digital copies (important). We could have purchased a less expensive package at another studio but are very happy that we didn't. People always tell us how unbelievably beautiful our album and pictures are. Definately do some research for your area. I visited about 3 and I ended up going with a company that gave me 5 hours and the dvd negatives for 1450. Try theknot.com and see who other brides are using in your area. Be wary of those "brides" you see at "The Knot".....most of the time, they are vendors posing as brides giving themselves some "free spam." Look for places that have "online reviews" like CitySearch and Respond.com......any vendor with a 9.0 rating or higher can be trusted! In Middle America (VFW halls & Grange hall reception): $750 to $1000 In Major Metropolitan areas (Los Angeles, NYC, Seattle, etc): $1500 to $3000. YGWYPF (you get what you pay for) nearly always applies to photography: Who's going to produce better images, the artiste with a $30,000 set of "Haselblat" cameras (the Mercedes-Benz of camera equipment).....or the dude with the 7.0 megapixel Nikon digital camera? Do your homework, find out what "Photo-journalistic" style means (loosely translated, the photographer has never worked in a studio and won't do "posed" shots). It is not about what you spend you have to like the photos other wise its not worth it. I paid 1200 for my photos I researched for a while and most were around $2000-$3000 and they didn't even offer alot of pictures for the amount you pay. Getting access to the negitives was really important to me alot of photographer won't give you them because that is another way for them to continue making money after the wedding. I called a local college and they recomended someone to me For $1200 bucks I got around 700 photos a mix of color and black and white I got all my negitives and a cd with all of my pictures. I also had my photographer the whole wedding for no additional cost. She was great do your research and you will find a good deal if you are in NY email me and I can give you her name BabyDolll128@yahoo.com |
