What am i to expect of a wedding photographer? |
What am i to expect of a wedding photographer? You should be able to see some previous work that he has done. Portfolios of other weddings. Not nature shots, or senior pictures, but Wedding Photos. Shooting a wedding is totally different from other shots. There are certain shots that you must capture and you only have one chance to catch them. Also, you want to ask about photos, you want to ask about his/her presentation to you. Do they give you proofs to keep if so how many. Do they give you a disk of photos, so you can get your own photos, and can buy the sizes of each photo you want. Or do the images belong to him and you have to buy all of your photos from him. You want to find out how long he/she is going to photograph and what all is covered. Do they cover the bride going to the beauty shop for her up-do in the morning before the wedding all the way through the wedding and reception. Or do they just do the 1 hour wedding service and 2 hours or so of the reception. You also want a photographer who is willing to sign a contract stating what all is to be covered and what you and he/she expects. You will also be signing this contract saying you will pay something like 1/2 upfront, and balance upon discs of shots, or proofs or whatever. Whatever you do don't be afraid to ask too many questions. The only dumb questions are the ones you don't ask. Good Luck and Congratulations. I would expect someone who is experienced and very professional who will discuss what shots you would like and outline all their duties in a contract. Get everything you want in writing. You klnow it would be nice if wedding photographers would put all their photos on a CD and just sell their digital pictures. Then, the couple/family could crop, add their own borders, etc, etc. I hate it when photographers make you buy their own idea of creativity. Good photography. You should expect of your wedding photographer that she or he: communicate with you the kind of pictures that you want show up early to the wedding photograph the ceremony without being ubiquitous or invasive take pictures of the entire wedding party, and of both families, taking as many different arrangements as needed be polite and courteous with the guests take pictures of the reception, from the dance floor to the tables, making sure to get an accurate sampling of the guests present |
