How do you become a wedding photographer when there is no one to train you?

How do you become a wedding photographer when there is no one to train you?

No, classes available in our small town. Hubby sort of backed into it. It was a hobby that has a small pay off.

He took photos as a volunteer at weddings, quseadillas, anniversary parties, birthday parties, parades etc. It is not a fast process this way but he kept portfolios of best work.

In the beginning friends/clients payed only for film and processing.
take classes @ a local community college and ask to shoot friends/relatives wedding for free to build your portfolio
if you do not know anyone you could go to school and take some photography courses, or you could look up wedding photographers in the phone book and ask them if you can be their no salary assistant/apprentice so that you can learn the trade.
Shadow one who is already established.
When I got married and it was a big wedding, my cousin was a novice at photography and we wanted him because he was interested in taking pictures. So we hired him and he did an excellent job. Just believe in yourself. With these new cameras today you will probably do a fantastic job.
Good luck!
Try going to local photographers and talk to them about your interests, to see if they have room for a photographer's assistant. They don't necessarily have to be wedding photographers, as you could visit a regular studio and just learn the basics. If you tell them you're interested in getting into wedding photography, they can likely help you to focus in after teaching you the fundamentals. Don't be surprised if you have to be more of an apprentice and work for little to no pay at first. In the world of photography, experience is what matters. Good luck!
most good cameras come with info on the basics of "how to" in most circumstances. Learn all about your camera first.
Look at as many wedding photos as you can, ppl love to show their wedding pics. Study them with a critical eye. Attend lots of weddings with your camera, take lots of pics unobtrusively. Critically review your work. Take many, many, many pics...then do a couple of weddings for friends...with experience, you will develop an eye for what makes a great photo. When you get started take 5-10 exposures of the scene you want a great shot of...most pros do that on a routine basis...have fun with it!
