What does the average "Good" wedding Photographer make per year?

What does the average "Good" wedding Photographer make per year?

Well, you are asking a very broad question. What is good? I am a very, very good wedding photographer. My husband and I have been shooting weddings for nearly 20 years. We do not make our living doing anything else becasue we are very good and can make a living at it. There are other wedding photographers how are what we in the photography business call 'weekend warriors'. They are accountants during the week and shoot weddings on the weekend. So your first thing to do is determine what you define as good.

As for 'make per year'; again a very broad term. My tax forms say I gross 135K but that is my gross. I must cover my cost of goods such as wedding albums, portriats, frames, advertizing, wedding shows, payroll, studio rent, utilities etc. Then you have to consider that I do an average of 25 weddings a year BUT I also shoot full time in the studio for children, high school seniors and families. SO, that isn't all wedding photography.

I have five wedding pkgs. The top one is $5,999, #2 is $3,995, #3 is $3,495, #4 is 2,295 and #5 is $1,095. During the year #s 2,3 &4 are on special for 50% off at different times depending on the bridal shows I am doing. I never sell #5 and #1 is never offered for less than 30% off.

It is tremendous work that never ends. Emotions are high with the clients, once the photograhy is over the real work begins on designing the albums and signing up more weddings.

** I just read your bio on your profile. You say more there than in your question. If you would like a sounding board or a peer to discuss the industry with I am more than happy! Email me and I'll send you my studio email address. The industry has changed so much but it sounds to me like you having boundry problems with your clients and there are ways you can manage that. depends how many weddings you are invited to take pics of...

and how much practice you've had...
A couple of thousand per wedding. It all adds up. Depends on how many he/she does.
The cost of wedding photos is outrageous.
.
im paying 2,000 for 7 hours of coverage with one photographer and a 20 page 11x14 album and i got a really good deal. at least in so cal that would normally start at around 3,000 and go up from there.
planning my wedding
I agree it's a very broad question and it all depends on the area you live in. For north jersey, I'm paying $3000 for unlimited coverage, unlimited pictures, all proofs 4x6, and a high res dvd.
