Where can I find a good wedding photographer for really cheap?

I am not sure about in the New England area. If you want really cheap, you could have a friend take photographs. Regular people can take great pictures with digital cameras if they put some effort into it. Many people also put disposable cameras on tables the reception for guests to take photos.

Try craigslist. Usually you can find somebody thats starting out but isnt too bad.

You should re-consider skimping on this if you can afford it (I've been down the "so broke I cant even pay attention" road too). If you can get a better than average photographer that will make the most memories of your special day. The cake will be gone, the dress packed away, all of the centerpieces will be gone and you will have this amazing book of photos that you can cherish forever.

I understand money is tight, especially considering the cost of fuel and housing, but are you sure you want to get cheap for the event of your life?


Shop around, devise a payment plan, look at portfolios, negotiate; think about it.

You might get lucky on Craigslist and get a good photographer who's experienced and skilled, but needs to build a portfolio. And you might not. You might get lucky and find an unknown at the community college who can capture your day magnificently. And you might end up with poorly done snapshots thatAunt Edna could have taken. Your Uncle Bob with the new digital Rebel might makes portfolio worthy images. Of course, he might not know how to work his new camera, and all the pictures he took are 4 stops overexposed...

Where ever you find your cheap photographer, ask to see their portfolio, and ask to see a couple of whole weddings, not just a greatest hits collection. Start by Googling wedding photographer, your town or state, and see where that gets you. Photography is not a good area to cut corners in, as several have mentioned, the pictures are what lasts from your special day. Good luck and best wishes!

A wedding is an event that you want to remember for the rest of your life. I'm sure you're on a tight budget, but investing in a great photographer for your wedding is well worth the price. Why are wedding photographers so expensive? Cause they really know what they're doing. Don't risk finding a cheap photographer that may ruin that special day.
