Can you have more then 1 photographer do your wedding even if they are from a different company?

I have narrowed it down to 2 photographers and I love them both. They work for different companies. Would it be tacky to hire them both?

One company specializes in photojournalism and the other Candid. I want both in my wedding.

Some companies refuse to do this, thats how you know they're not a good place to work with.
I personally think it's fine. I mean YOURE paying THEM they work for you!

I don't think it would. You will get more pictures that way.

tacky no, cause a problem bt the 2 yes. maybe one should do the wedding and the other to do the reception?

it would be expensive and they would only be getting in each others way. as professional as they would want to be, they are competing for your business. whoever gets the best shots is who your going to buy the photoes from. I would settle on one or the others. besides, if you have both its going to look like your trying to turn your wedding into a photo shoot.

depends on the photographer.
id just ask and see if theyd be ok with it.

save yourself some money and pick the one you really really like and want to look at pictures for the rest of your life from.

You can have whoever and how many you want. Just make sure they are willing to work together and that they take different shots. The last thing you want is duplicate shots from each photographer. If it were me, I would pick one photographer and then have a videographer as well. You may find yourself accidentally stepping on toes of the photographers.

You need to ask them...but I would think that the answer would be no. Photography is an art and some people work better alone...or they work with an assistant that is familiar with their style and used to working with them. Unless these two people know each other I would highly doubt either one would agree to it...besides, I would think it would be extremely expensive to hire both of them.

I don't think it will be tacky at all--unless you don't pay one of them--now THAT'S tacky. LOL Seriously, I think you can make it work out great for you. I would, however, make sure that each is aware of the other's presense BEFORE wedding day, so that they won't be competing for the same shot. Just coordinate between everyone who is taking what shots--like during the ceremony you could have 1 photographer taking the actual ceremony shots, and the other taking shots of different people in the audience, different angles of the ceremony, etc.

Absolutely! If you can afford it..its your day! I had two photographers at my wedding and they both got shots that the other didn't. They both have unique styles that made my wedding albums more exciting. I say go for it!

Don't think of doing this without letting both photographers in on your plans. Most won't agree to it; not necesssarily out of pride, but for logistical reasons. There are certain photos opportunities that should not be missed, and you want to make sure that you're covered. When multiple flashes are going off, the image exposure and quality can suffer.

This is why many wedding photographers insist that the formal portraits be taken without other people present. Family members always want to sneak in a quick photo or two after the photographer has posed the couple and their wedding party. They inadvertently snap a photo when the pro does and the additional flash ruins the shot.

If, by chance, your photographers agree on this double coverage plan, they will need to work out arrangements of who is covering which part of the wedding so that they don't get in each others way. Perhaps one can shoot the formals and the ceremony and the other can over the reception and the couple driving off.

no, that way if you don't like one, you have the other pictures to fall back on. But remember, it's going to be twice as many flashes going off in your ceremony.

Most photographers will not allow another professional photographer there outside their own company.

Most photographers have it in their contract that you cannot hire another photographer for your wedding. Check your contract.

Its a waste of money. I am sure there is someone who has the right combo of both under their belt.

Its great that you know that you both both candid and photojouralism styles, but now u must find one company that does the right combo of them both.

Good luck!

It will depend on how the photographers feel about working with each other.
Talk to them, about the idea.

If you are having 1 who is taking the posed wedding party shots and the other taking everything else, I can understand hiring 2 separate people. Otherwise, don't hire 2 different companies. Like someone else said... they could get in each other's way.

You have to check with the photographers and the contracts you will sign. Many contracts have an "exclusive" clause which states that no one else can professionally take pictures at your wedding that day. So it's Ok if grandma has her camera out but if you hire a second photographer it's a no-no. You just have to ask. You can also see of you can find a photographer who will take both kinds of photos for you. It would probably be cheaper that way.
