How much would you expect to pay for a photographer for a dest wedding for one day?

Here are the details: A girl is getting married down south the same week as us but at a different resort.

They have a negotiated rate for a photographer and will be paying for his ticket but they have offered to let us use him for one day for our ceremony, reception pictures and one trash the dress shoot.

How much should I expect to cover of all of this? She obviously would have him the most time as she has him the entire week minus our one day.

He's fine with being shared but said we couldnt get more than 1 day with him. Obviously I dont want to 50/50 with the girl as we wont have him for more than that day.

maybe you could pay 10-20% of his fee and his plane ticket home.... im not sure how much he is charging her and what does he think of being shared?

I would talk with the photographer, and see what he is charging for the day, and expect to pay that. Maybe the photographer isn't going to be willing to do this either--you really need to talk with the professional involved.

You can also find a photographer at the location--that may be much simpler rather than using a friend's photographer. This situation you're describing has disaster written all over it. I wouldn't suggest it, or do it. I would simply get my own photographer. There are just way too many things that could go wrong here to even list, and could affect your relationship with your friend in the future.

Anyways, 1/3 of the total cost would probably be reasonable as previously mentioned since you are only getting him for one day and she gets him for a week. Good luck!!

I would say 1/3 of the total cost. While she may have him for the whole week alot of the fees come with their travel time, proofs, albums etc. But i think 1/3 should be reasonable

Where I live, photographers who do the wedding day/reception, (they would probably throw in the "trash the dress" shoot at no additional charge as long as it took place on the wedding day), go for $3500-$4500 and you get their time, a CD with all the pics, a large photo album for you, a smaller one for your parents, and about 10 mini photo albums for other family members. That cost also includes engagement pics. I would say if you cut out the engagement pics, and mini albums, you should pay about $3500 or so, plus give your friend about $250 to assist in his hotel accomodations and flight-(this is assuming the flight is about $300-$350. I would say pay about 1/3 of his flight, and 1 night of his hotel stay costs. Or you could find someone local and not have to pay the extra costs.
