I'm new to the wedding planning thing, can someone help me? |
I got engaged on July 4! I'm so happy! We've decided to first make a book of all the stuff we like and possible venues before we actually start planning. I started on the book today and all I have are tabs in it. They are labeled: Based on your suggestions I've added these tabs (this book looks like a monkey did it! The tabs are all over the place. Yay for not paying attention!): Without a date it is hard to really start planning things. Definitely put in a file for your hair and makeup...I know by the time my wedding got close I had quite a collection of pictures to show my stylist. Your tabs look fine - you may want to add a tab for showers and parties... also don't forget that you will probably want a guest book and candles. What I would do is just start looking at magizines and online and keep a picture of everything you like. When you decide on a date, then you can look back at what you picked out and start from there on your ideas. The websites I've listed below contain links to all services and things you'll need for wedding planning. Use theknot.com so much easier they have a checklist. and use this all the time, lots of good answers. Well, you've got everthing organized....that's good. You guys need to pick a date and then look for the reception hall & church...get those booked first. Don't forget to book your photographer (sometimes senoir college students, going to college for photography can be a good deal...but really look at their work). Then, currently David's Bridal is having their $99. dress sale...I check them out to see if you can catch your dress at a bargin price. Michael's Craft store is a good place for wedding invites (if you plan to print them out yourselves..saves $$). Their also good for your favors & center peices, wedding album, unity candls, etc. Don't forget to check out Card Outlet for stuff too, like your cake topper. They will also have a sale on faux silk wedding flowers as well, if you don't go w/ real flowers (in season). Alot will depend on your buget... The invites should go out no later than 2-3 months ahead of time...it gives people enough time to check their schedules. Fall colors are beautiful..ex: burgundys, moss or sage green, burnt orange, magenta & navy. Any of these w/ accents of gold or copper. |
