Spiritually speaking: I am a photographer and an atheist. I regularly have to do wedding in churches? |
I usually meet with the couple beforehand and we sort things out. I am meetin a JW couple tonight for the first time to do a wedding in September. Are there any specific things that I should be guarded about saying and do they marry on a friday or a Saturday I would just try to leave things open-ended -- merely ask "What's the date for the ceremony?" rather than risking some sort of faux pas. You should probably be alright without having to talk too much about religion. This is like being a vegetarian, and working in a slaughterhouse. Honestly, do you enjoy working a trade that requires you to constantly dance around your belief system for the sake of not accidentally offending your deluded clients? For Pete's sake, go shoot runway models, or work for a newspaper. Shame on them for not pre-qualifying you ahead of time. I'm really surprised they don't have a "JW approved" list for something as important as a wedding photographer. They're pretty straight forward. The only thing unusual I can think of is they don't like religious symbols. If you have picture matting backgrounds with crosses or angels or Jesus, etc., don't show them that. yeah try to avoid telling everybody at the wedding your an Atheist. Just say you are still searching for God in your life and finding how to be "at one" with him and to fully understand who or what he is on your own individual path. The best thing you can be is yourself. Worry about them and their needs, not their religious views. Stick to business and be polite. Do your job, be your polite self and forget about their stupid beliefs. from my experience with jws don't let them know ur a atheist...or that you don't believe in god it can turn ugly. |
