IS this too much for a wedding photographer?

I live around Fayetteville, Arkansas. Total, i found a wedding package that runs about 2000, then for the engagement session its 250, and for the bridal session its 350. So 2600 total (about)... I haven't been looking at this for that long, I was wondering is this too much?? Is this cheap? Thanks guys!

yes - that sounds like a lot - I'd shop around. Look on Craig's list

I think for your area, it's expensive. However, going fo rcheap on photography is not a good idea.

I'm getting Married in the New England area and my photographer charged $3600, no prints included, just the labor and the engagment pictures.

My fiance's cousing (same area) charged 2k for the standard packet and $3000 for the upgraded packet, but she hated the pictures. Also, this didn't include prints, just the labor.

Shop around, it's to expensive for the midwest. A friend of mine (MO) got prints and everything for $700... and they were stunning.

Good luck

my brother-in-law is a professional fashion photographer and he gets about that for a proper fashion shoot, so for a wedding photographer that is way too much. he did weddings back when he was first starting out (about 8years ago) and he got about 拢500 for all that you said. now i know prices have risen but I'm also looking at photographers (he did offer but i want him to be in the wedding not working) but Ive found the average price is about $300 - $900. seriously $2000 is WAY too expensive!

Well, here in New York, that would be an acceptable price, maybe even on the lower end of things- but it seems like that's probably the mid to high side for Arkansas. On the other hand, if the photos are gorgeous, it might be worth it. After all, once the wedding is over, the photos are the main thing you have to help you remember the day. To me, photography is one area where it's worth a splurge. Can you put a link to the photographer's site so we can check out the quality of their work?

I guess it all depends on whre you live. I'm in MA & my package is about $3,000. That includes the photographer for an hour before the ceremony, right up until after we do the bouquet/garter toss (no need to have him there after that). Also, it includes a leather bound album with the 20 prints we choose, 2 mothers albums with appx 10 prints, a 8x10 to hang on our wall & several wallet sized pics. to hand out to close family.

I guess it depends on what you want. Our package came to $6000. Free engagement session (valued at $350) and 3 huge prints, 9hours, two photogs, 3 albums, 400 high res proofs, one year on line gallery with order options for guests. My fiancee and I are very much picture people and purposely saved the money for this. We also wanted a specific style.
So I guess it depends on what you can afford and what you want. It's different for everyone. My fiancee and I have been very lucky in our life together and could afford higher end on this luxury.
Keep in mind albums and such often up the price. $2600 might just be the base price.
I recommend a few meetings with a few people. I met with 5 photogs (twice with the guy I choose) before I made a decision.
Have fun with it!

I would shop around some more.

see if you can find a smaller, more low key (think mom and pop) type of business. these places will charge less and often take better pictures than the expensive places!!

your bridal session should be included in your actual wedding day photos unless you plan on having pictures done at the studio in your gown on another day besides the wedding. in my opinion, it's not worth the extra money to do this. the photographer should get a few nice pictures of you alone on your wedding day (price included in wedding day charge).

as for engagment photos-that's WAY too much. Want to hear something funny? both my sister and I (we are both engaged) went to Target portrait studios and paid about 60 bucks for ours. they came out SO cute!! i've used target for my 3 daughters for the past 4 years and my pictures are perfect everytime. you should check your area for a studio location.

if you don't have a target-try JC Penney's. my family has used them before too and only paid about 70 bucks. both places have online coupons.

keep hunting for those wedding pics though-you can do way better. congrats!!

i am paying 1500 for my wedding pictures but around where i live (southern mn) the cheapest with 4 hours is 1700$ then it goes to you know 7,000$ i mean prices have gone up a lot so really if you can find 1500 your doing good but 2600 is a lot really... look around and do it ahead of time they book up fast!

Well my wedding photographer is doing my wedding and its only gonna cost me a little under $700.00 he charges $275.00 to show up 1 hour before the wedding and he will stay through the reception and dance.. for 250 pictures it is gonna cost me $300.00. And he is charging $40.00 for a 16X20. I am not doing the engagement session but the bride session is included in this price.. If I was you I would keep shopping around.. Look online thats how I found mine..

i am paying 2,117 for my photographer and videographer and i live in NY!! so yes 2600 is way to expensive for a photographer only

that's really cheap but I live in ny so I guess everything is expensive here. I'm spending around 7000. But you should decide based on his work. Not by asking us if its expensive or cheap. Good luck.

That is verrry expensive for a photographer.... We spent $600 and got the same deal... Get a phone book and call all over, there has to be something less expensive.

wow thats cheap - you did well mine worked out to be about $4500 for the set

Its about average! Ive found a bit cheaper but not by much!
