Wedding Reception?

Here is the link for the sight for my wedding reception. It's in my budget. So what do you think? My budget is $6000. The photography is 900 and this place is 900. My dress is 549 at david's bridal and his tux is free because he groomsmen is renting theirs at the same place. So should the balance of 3600 be spend on catering. We're having about 150-200 guests?

We don't know what our families are contributing yet so that's why our budget is so low. We do have family members that can "throw down" but we didnt want to bother them and we wanted our day to be enjoyable for everybody.

Gorgeous place to have your reception. Make sure that you have enough money allocated for the rehearsal dinner and gifts for your wedding party. I would spend what is left on the reception.

no id keep it for the best honeymoon ever!!!!

congratulations!

I'm getting married as well here in April. That was our budget too for both the cermony and the reception. You prices are less than we had...but we are only having 75 people. I say you will be just fine...good luck!!!

You can be frugal in how you spend the remainder, but some portion of it shoud be spent on food and beverages for your guests.

Looks nice hope your day goes well.

ok - the place looks nice but the chairs are AWFUL! see if you can put covers on them - you can get creative to save money but they just spell out CHEAP....

Sure, you can use it for catering. Extra decor or anything thing else you want to make your wedding the magical night of your dreams. Maybe if there is money left you can use it towards your honeymoon.

congratulations on your wedding and have a spectacular time. cheers.

there's no way, unless you go with cheap food or just appetizers, that you'll get catering for that amount. Food alone averages $20 a plate, so at 150 people you're looking at 3000 right there. Then there's your cake, invitations, drinks, musical entertainment, gifts for your attendants (required, as they're buying dresses/renting tuxes and everything.) favors (always a little something for everyone who comes, like a small candy or keepsake) place cards for seating, your hair and nail appointment, your shoes, your jewelry, your "under garments", Napkins, drink glasses (always at least for couple, usually whole bridal party), transportation... theres a lot you have to think about... I'd suggest finding a way to increase your budget, because you'll be without a lot of the necessities if you dont.

I think your venue looks great, but you may have a hard time with your budget... with 3600 left and a possible 200 guests, that's only $18 per guest for catering... I've not heard of any caterers that can supply a meal for that. If you want to include alcohol, $35 is the absolute cheapest I've seen per person, and that was in a very rural area with a simple meal of bread/salad/chicken, potato, green veggie and well alcohol.

You've also not budgeted for favors, flowers, your wedding officient, bridesmaids and groomsmans gifts, entertainment (DJ), etc.

The venue is nice but what about flowers, centerpieces, favors, and a DJ? All that really cuts into your catering budget. I don't see that there's a way you can do such a large wedding for $6000. AND you have to consider drinks such as alcohol. Better get catering prices before you proceed....

I'd say yes, use some of it for catering, but try to remember you always need extra cash for those unexpected things that pop up at the last minute. Relax and have fun. Best wishes!

The place looks great, but before you decide where to put the left over money, you need to get quotes on how much catering for 150+people is going to cost. The food at my reception was the most expensive thing of my whole wedding and our reception was at a 50s diner with chicken, hamburgers, french fries, salad, and a few other things for everybody. Good Luck!!

It's nice. What does this include? Food, drinks? If not, you better configure that before signing off on this place. That can cost more than the actual reception hall.

150 - 200 guests is a lot for a budget of $6,000. You are really going to have to cut corners.

I take it you've rented a place that you would bring in your own food?... If that's the case, then by all means, ask your closest friends and family to "sponsor" you for some of the side dishes... Order your meats, like fried chicken, a couple spiral hams, etc. and let others volunteer some of your favorites that you know they fix.. People are usually very happy to help out. Once you know what others are bringing, you can order other stuff to go with it... We also washed and poked holes in about 200 potatoes and baked them without foil. . The crispy skins are wonderful!.. We put them out and had lots of toppings available, like cheese, sour cream, chives, bacon bits, green onions, and brocolli... Then there's also a salad bar option..People were thrilled and it guaranteed that vegetarians had a hearty meal too!...
If you are in a do-it-yourself place, don't forget to allow for bartender in your budget and ALSO a cleaning crew unless you intend on family and friends packing and cleaning up afterwards... Same goes for the decorations... You will want to keep anything you purchase. That way it will be available for another wedding or party... You want to make sure that someone you trust to do it carefully oversees the little details like that...

Another thing to consider... The photographer can only take so many pictures.. If you know someone with a nice digital camera, make sure they stay around for more pics and follow the photographer's lead..... They can make a disc and you will be able to pick and choose and crop what you like without paying for tons of extras from the photographer... There is also the possibility that there could be a technical problem, (This happened to one of my nieces and they had only 11 pictures from their entire wedding package..)

Hi. The venue looks nice, but I don't know if you can do it with your budget. You are forgetting a number of things that you will also have to purchase:

~ Invitations
~ Flowers
~ Centerpieces
~ Gifts for attendants
~ Rehearsal dinner
~ DJ?
~ Beverages - bar?
~ Extras for you.....shoes, tiara, veil, hair appointment, etc.
~ Minister's fee (or whomever is marrying you)
~ Marriage License fee
~ Cake!

With all of the above, obviously, it will not be able to be done with your remaining $3,600. I don't know what caterer you can find, but I would think the least amount per person would be $20 (and it could be more)....so you are looking at $20x200 = $4,000 (at least!) just for food, and then the beverages would be on top of that and also tax and gratuity charges.
