How much do i have to spend if i want to start a standard wedding/pre-wedding photography bussiness? It depends on if you already have the experience and the photography equipment. If you don't have the equipment this will run you a few thousand ($2000-$10,000) dollars just for the cameras and lenses depending on the brand and type. Then there is the studio and the equipment that will go with operating one which can also run you well into the thousands again. Then the last thing (or the first thing) you should consider is there a market in your area for this service and will the pros out weigh the cons of having a wedding business. Hope this helps, Kevin Source(s): Professional Photographer if youre good at working with and shooting people and you have the cameras and lenses, lighting and know all the ins and outs of using it correctly,, and if youre not going up agains an established wedding shooter, close to youre area who has a great reputation, and you have a nice, clean studio (not your basement) you might make it work. if you dont own any equipment, your looking at a $10,000.00 loan.. or there abouts. I agree with the $10,000 mark as a good starting point. You can certainly spend more, and probably a bit less, but this is a good starting point. Other options are to get a decent camera, lens package, and on camera flash and work as an assistant or helper. Shoot the candids to help out and learn some stuff before doing the formals. Or jump in with both feet if you are confident and buy some good uesd gear to save some $$ I did exactly what you did and it was not much fun. I did not do it for a living though. Now I shoot mostly for fun, gifts for my family, and the occasional nude model shoot. Have a great time and good luck! |
